Patricia and RJ | June 23, 2007

Monday, June 25th, 2007

It was mentioned a couple times during toasts that RJ has good luck. I’d say his streak has continued because Patricia said “I do” and the weather in southern Vermont couldn’t have been better.

Recent comment from Suzanne and Gribbin

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

Suzanne and Gribbin were married on April 14, 2007 at the Brass Heart Inn in Chocorua, New Hampshire.

One of my favorite things about the pictures you took, besides the fact that you were able to really capture people’s personalities in the candids, was the artful approach you took. The up-close pictures of Madden’s face that were taken before the wedding are amazing….I absolutely love them. The shot of the bridal party in their boots with me holding up my dress and all you can see is from the knee down is a favorite. The pictures were just different (in a good way). They weren’t your typical posed shots, they captured the moment and allow me to relive it exactly how I felt in the moment. These are pictures that I plan on hanging on the walls of my home rather than letting them sit in a dusty photo album for a rainy day. That is something that makes these shots very special. Thank you.

Getting Ready Coverage

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

I usually start photographing at least 1-2 hours or more before the ceremony to capture the preparations before the ceremony. This is a great time to take detail photos, capture wedding participants interacting, and to photograph the bride & groom getting ready. Your comfort/privacy level with a photographer taking getting ready photographs is most important, but I would recommend giving your photographer access to this part of the day. You will definitely value these photographs. As a case in point, I’ll offer a quick story about an April wedding I photographed. When I arrived at the inn to take photos of the bride (Suzanne) getting ready, she and her bridesmaids were a bit hesitant to let me in the room to photograph, which is completely understandable. I went outside to take photos of the inn, but that didn’t take much time and I knew Suzanne would really value having the getting ready process covered. So I went back into the inn and told Suzanne it would be great to start covering the preparations whenever she was comfortable. At that point she was comfortable, I started photographing, and captured some great moments/details. I’ll let a recent note from Suzanne best illustrate this:

“I have to thank you for pushing us to let you in as I was getting ready. I got a little shy there at the beginning and you made a point to really get into the room and start taking pictures from the get-go and I can’t thank you enough. The pictures of me getting ready are so fun for me and bring back so many memories and great feelings. Thanks for that, you knew better than I did at that point.”…..Suzanne

Now, don’t get the wrong idea! I’m not trying to physically push myself into rooms when people aren’t ready, but I’ll communicate with a bride/groom and suggest it would be good to start photographing.

Sarah and Pete | June 16, 2007

Monday, June 18th, 2007

The past weekend was fun for a number of reasons. The Mount Washington Hotel is a beautiful location for a wedding and Sarah/Pete were easy to work with. In addition, I went to college (Colby in Waterville, Maine) with Sarah and got to catch up with several friends I haven’t seen in 10 years. There are dozens of photos I’d like to share, but I’m going to pick 5 to highlight.

Sarah is leaving the hotel on her way to the ceremony. It was a dark stairway, but I knew it would look cool when she passed through some window light.

Sarah and Pete coming back down the aisle after the ceremony concludes. These are the moments that I’m looking for, I was at the back with a long lens and captured how happy the couple is to be married to each other.

Good thing I’ve been running lately, actually they were going pretty slow. This is a bit set up because I yelled for them to kiss, but the photo really captures the scenery of the area.

New online gallery system is live!

Thursday, June 7th, 2007

The new online gallery system is ready. This is where all photos are posted after weddings for viewing by the wedding couple, family, and friends. There are lots of cool features (zoom, cropping, and toning) in addition to secure ordering of prints and products. The introduction page can be accessed from the Weddings page or at this link (which will open in a new window).

I’ve converted all 2007 weddings to the new system and will be working back through 2006 weddings. If I photographed your wedding before 2006 and you’d like to renew your online gallery, please get in touch.

Stay tuned for many updates and new offerings through this system.
